AT LEAST ELEVEN IS ONE LOUDER: Detroit no longer ranks among the United States' Ten Most Populous Cities, having dropped to No. 11, swapping places with San Jose in the latest population statistics. The Motor City had been in the top 10 for 95 years and for a good part of that span ranked as the fourth or fifth largest U.S. city. In 1950, 1.8 million people called Detroit home; today, roughly half that amount live on the wrong side of Eight Mile.
