EVERYONE WANTS TO BE PRETTY: OK, I'm only about 200 pages into Uglies, the first volume of Scott Westerfield's much acclaimed sci-fi series for young adults (seriously, most recent volume Extras warranted a full review in the NYT Book Review), and I'm already ready for the movie--I'm proposing Joss Whedon as writer/director (he knows how to stretch a dollar) and Ellen Page as Tally with Nicole Kidman as Dr. Cable. If you enjoy sci-fi, even though kids are the target audience, this is well-worth checking out.
