CITIUS, ALTIUS, TRIPLECASTIUS: NBC has released its schedule today for 3600 hours of Olympic coverage, "1,000 hours more than the combined coverage for every televised Summer Olympics in U.S. history," including nearly 2900 hours of live coverage planned across NBC, USA, MSNBC, CNBC, Oxygen, Telemundo and Universal HD, as well as live streaming on NBCOlympics.com and special basketball- and soccer-only channels that will appear on your cable networks during the Games.

The full channel-by-channel, day-by-day schedule is here, including the promise of all 32 swimming gold medal finals live on NBC in prime time. Not listed, however, are such defunct Olympic events as tug-of-war, one-hand weightlifting, the standing high jump, dueling pistols and live pigeon shooting, an event held in the 1900 Games.
