HAS IT OCCURRED TO ANY OF YOU THAT YOUR BUDDY IS ACTUALLY GOING TO CAUSE THE THING HE SAYS HE'S TRYING TO PREVENT? PERHAPS THAT LITTLE NUKE IS THE INCIDENT? SO MAYBE THE BEST THING TO DO ... IS NOTHING? [PAUSE] I'M GLAD YOU ALL THOUGHT THIS THROUGH: I have nothing profound to say about Lost -- I try to leave that to the others here. I'm just exceptionally excited after having rewatched The Incident, Parts 1 & 2 last night (now with alternately condescending and enlightening pop-ups!) and read Maureen Ryan's lengthy interview with Lindelof/Cuse, and February 2 can't come soon enough.

  1. I also watched last night as a refresher for next week.  My favorite pop-up: NotLocke and Ben are talking on the beach, and the pop-up reads, "Ben killed Locke in Los Angeles."  I actually laughed out loud, it was so deadpan.  Do they really think that after five seasons, they're going to catch up new viewers with a few cliff's notes?

Since "everything happened before" isn't Groundhog Day pretty much the perfect jumping off point?

  6. My favorite scene from last night probably remains the Rose and Bernand segment:

SAWYER: So y'all been scavenging food and living out in a hut by yourselves.
ROSE: People try their whole lives to get themselves a nice, quiet place near the ocean where they can live in peace. And we did it. That's what we made for ourselves.
SAWYER: Well, I hate to rain on your parade, but... your condo's about to go ka-blooey.
    KATE: Jack has a bomb.
    ROSE: Who cares?
    KATE: Excuse me?
ROSE: It's always something with you people. Now you say Jack's got a bomb. And what, you guys are all gonna try to stop him, right?
    JULIET: Yeah, that's right.
ROSE: We traveled back 30 years in time, and you're still trying to find ways to shoot each other?

I wholeheartedly agree.  "It's always something with you people" is genius.

  8. Adam, is there an easy way for you to provide links to some of our debates last season regarding the nature of time travel on Lost?  I would really love to reread those going into next week's episode.

  9. No, because we don't tag.  Do searches for terms like "lost," "hurley," "time travel," "turtles," etc.

If I had written the captions, I would have made them alot less deadpan.  For example, when we saw that dead Locke was in the box, it should have said something like "...well, that's not good" or "yeahbuhwhat?"

And all the references to past episodes reminded me of what old comic books did.
