He has been really, really good. When you think about it, his main problem on SNL was over-laughing, but when he's over-laughing at guests, it just makes them more comfortable. His show the night of Conan's "Tonight" debut was as good as Late Night gets, featuring him charming Anne Hathaway and Will Forte singing this:
I used to think he was THE WORST circa his SNL years, but I've laughed hard every single time I've caught his late night show. The first time I felt compelled to link friends to a clip I included the caveat, "I know it's Jimmy Fallon, but give it a chance," but by now I feel he's earned his way out of that sort of disclaimer.
I am not only watching, but I need to be asleep earlier than most of his show, so I am thinking of putting it on the Tivo rotation because not only would I get to see it all, I would get the best of all worlds as I hit my own highlights.
Between this and California Dreams, I think I need to start watching Jimmy Fallon. Which is not something I ever expected to think, much less say.

I think that when Jimmy realized that no one cared about him, he started doing things that were just fun.

ReplyDeleteI like Fallon's tastes, but every time I check in on the show, he does a horrid job of interviewing.
