WHO WANTS TO BE JOE BLANTON? IT MIGHT BE YOU: After much delay and uncertainty, the screen adaptation on Moneyball starts filming in two weeks. Newly added to the cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman as A's manager Art Howe, Robin Wright as Billy Beane's ex-wife and Stephen Bishop -- not the yacht rocker, but an actor who played Locke's physical therapist on "Lost" and looks a lot like David Justice -- as veteran slugger David Justice.

Brad Pitt remains A's general manager Billy Beane, with Jonah Hill stretching out of his comfort zone by playing a nerd --A's assistant GM Paul DePodesta.

  1. That the script draft is apparently jointly credited to Zaillian and Sorkin is interesting, since the two of them have rather different styles of writing.

  3. I will be really upset if this version doesn't have a Bill James as a Great Gazoo-like presence, as did the Zaillian draft which I have.  (That draft also features Lenny Dykstra in a flashback scene with Beane, and I know someone who'd play Dykstra really cheap -- if you can give him the money in cash, in advance.)

  4. Well, it worked on Schindler's List.

This says Sorkin rewrote Zaillian's original script and then Zaillian was brought back to rewrite Sorkin.

  5. I'm thinking that someone might be a bit old for the role, now.  Heh.

I am open to being excited about this.
