Jersey Shore Season Two is AMAZINGLY captivating TV, and I say this having been drug kicking and screaming into watching Season One and finding it interesting like a train wreck.  But Season Two is a little different, they have all done this before, presumably Ronnie knows that Sammie will eventually see what shit he is up to and learn being sneaky is hard to do with cameras following you around and recording your life. Fascinating.  Maybe scripted?  Also side story of a codependent relationship that just won't quit and the Jersey Shore drinking game definitely will involve drink every time Sammi says she is 'done' with Ronnie.

Seriously this and Teen Mom are so fun to watch and awful to watch and in the former make me feel like such a better person and in the latter make me so sad for those poor kids and their oh so screwed up lives.

Season One of Jersey Shore was fascinating, because it was like an anthropological investigation into a culture: the guidos and guidettes migrate every summer down the shore where they GTL, pouf and attempt to demonstrate their superiority through brawling, drinking and hot tubbing. That the cast was so unironically open about their philosophies of life made it winning television. Season two sees these individuals, transformed by celebrity, attempt to lead the same lifestyle amongst an alien culture, though the intra-cast drama has far overshadowed any major culture clashes between the natives and the interlopers from the North.

True, the first season was wonderful for exactly why you state Andrew, and I have been completely sucked into the intra-cast drama this season.  Totally sucked in.
