THE LITTLE THINGS YOU DO TOGETHER, BUT VIA SKYPE: As this article reveals, the cast of this weekend's Company will not all be in one place for rehearsal till opening day, and the cast and crew have taken some interesting measures to get ready, including learning dancing moves through iPhone videos, Skype, and other methods. Makes me grateful that I'm not seeing it till Saturday matinee, after they've gelled. But more important to much of our audience, it does confirm that the show is being filmed for movie theatre broadcast in June, with (I assume) a DVD and live recording to follow.

  1. Whew. Well that's a relief. I have been listening to Company all morning as I was preparing for my trip and wishing that I wasn't leaving town this week.

We're seeing it on Saturday night, and my fingers are crossed that it will be a fantastic climax to our NYC trip. We're off to How to Succeed in 30 min, Avenue Q tonight, Priscilla tomorrow, Anything Goes Friday, Book of Mormon on Sat afternoon, then Company. Yeah, this should continue to be a pretty great trip. Also, we had dinner at Colicchio & Sons on Monday night; as I raved on twitter, it's worth a trip for the coconut cream doughnuts alone.

Reviews, please, Randy, if you have time!  And wow, enjoy what looks like an incredible week.

Goodness! Randy, I'm all sorts of jealous of you! And I second Genevieve's request for reviews, esp for How to Succeed, since half the reviews I've read have loved it, and half have thought it should have closed already.

I would also like reviews, however I am interested in the coconut cream doughnuts.

  6. I'll be there on Saturday night too, and I'm so excited, but wishing my week was more like Randy's! I'd love to hear reviews, too.

  7. I will happily provide reviews.  I'm not sure when I'll get around to it (I'll likely just wait until the end of the trip, so I can do it all at once), and I'm not sure where I'll do it (I might thread-jack the comments in Matt's upcoming post about "Company"), but it'll get done.  We are having a FABULOUS trip.  I'd only been to NYC once before, on a brief work trip, so I finally get to do some sightseeing (assuming the weather cooperates).  And yes, seven Broadway shows in a five-day period is kinda crazy, but we didn't fly across the continent NOT to see a bunch of live theater.  AND we got our picture taken with Trekkie Monster after Avenue Q tonight, so that was all sorts of awesome.  :)

  8. My five-second review: it's terrific, and Radcliffe pulls it off.  His voice is a *little* thin, but it's a good voice.  And his enthusiasm is infectious.

  9. email it to me at acbonin at hotmail dot com, and I can just make a separate post of it.

But I'd watch where Trekkie Monster's hand has been.

Going to the Saturday matinee and then going to dinner at Coliccio and Sons. I've done 3 shows in 2 days but 7 in 5 days sounds bananas!

I love this blog and the commenters!
