WINGER SPEECH TO BRING IT HOME: Today, the AV Club begins running an epic interview with Community showrunner Dan Harmon, wherein he takes us episode by episode through the show's sometimes erratic, but still reliably funny, second season, including how NBC's choice of how the first episode would end changed the season's arc (IMHO, sounds like for the worse), the mistakes made in marketing the space simulator episode (which reairs on Thursday), and which character he has had the hardest time getting his head around. Parts 2-4 will follow the rest of this week, and look to be well worth your time.

Maybe it's just the first few episodes, but it sounds like I liked Season 2 of Community an awful lot more than Dan Harmon did.

  4. I think Harmon is extremely self-critical and in part responding to the critical response, which was mixed from a lot of folks this year, particularly about the Pierce stuff.

Marc Maron had a great interview with Dan Harmon on the WTF podcast last week. Interesting, creative, neurotic guy.

All those Marc Maron interviews are fascinating. Though the warm up observations take a little while to get used to.
Did you hear his interview with Ira Glass?

Yes, I love that Ira Glass interview. I bought the WTF App for iPhone and been steadily working my way through the catalogue. I love the interviews that go past the public persona many comics cultivate. The Maria Bamford interview was a highlight, the two of them sharing a ride back from a show. The Louis CK two-parter si a standout as it partially is about Marc and Louis feeling a rift in their friendship.
