THAT IS A VERY GOOD QUESTION, SIR, AND I WOULD COUNTER WITH MY OWN QUESTION, WHICH IS—WHY IS YOUR FACE ALL SWIRLY?  The folks at Gold Derby have compiled the acting performances submitted for Emmy consideration by each nominee along with the six episodes selected for each nominated series.

Thats the right choice for Walton goggins. His work in the I of the storm sold me on the whole series.

  2. If they're judging purely on one episode, Hamm oughta be a lock.  The Good Wife performers made odd submission choices--Marguiles submitted the one where she kicks Peter out rather than the one where she finds out about Peter/Kalinda or the finale, Panjabi submitted the one where she and Alicia have it out rather than the one with the Peter/Kalinda reveal or the Kalinda vs. the truck episode.  Cumming and Baranski both chose the one with Gary Cole (really good choice for Baranski, less so for Cumming) and Charles submitted the finale.

Worst submission choice?  Kristen Wiig.  Not only did she pick an episode hosted by the likely frontrunner in her category, she's not very good in it, with annoying Gilly and Secret Word sketches, though it does feature one of her Christine O'Donnell impressions.

Hamm and Moss have great submission episodes, but the difference between the tag line and second place in Actress/Comedy has to be the biggest there is.

Is "tag line" a term for 1st place that I've just never heard of?

    Just a few thoughts:

    1. From what I've seen, it's interesting that everybody submitted pretty much exactly the episode I'd have gone for, besides Wiig as Matt noted.  (Dinklage, especially, was spot on with his choice, as was Hamm/Moss.)  Matt's criticisms of the Good Wife submissions make me curious to watch the show, which I've never seen.

    2.  I'd somehow kind of missed it, but along with Margo Martindale being nominated I love that Dot-Marie Jones get a nod.  Glee was a mess, but whenever I dropped in Jones was worth seeing as it seemed like she never went for histrionics.  (Then again, I'm a sucker for stories of people who enter acting later on, especially for one like Jones where she was a long time national arm-wrestling champion.)

    3.  The list noting Steve Carell's submission somehow made me laiugh out loud, just at remembering Michael screwing with Oscar just a wee bit with his parting gift and how well Carell and Oscar Nunez played that scene.

  6. I agree, I'm pretty hapy with the selections.  "Good evening, everyone, I'm Leslie Monster and this is Nightline."

Perfect submission for Olyphant.  I still find myself randomly saying "G-damn you, Dickie!" every once in awhile, just because it hit so hard.
