AN MC TO A DEGREE THAT YOU CAN'T GET IN COLLEGE: The Rock and Roll Non-Country Popular Music of the 1950s and Beyond Hall of Fame has decided to induct in 2012 The Beastie Boys, Guns N' Roses, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan, Laura Nyro, and The Small Faces.

We had discussed this year's nominees here; among those passed over were The Cure, Donna Summer (again), Tom Waits, Heart, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

  1. So the big question is,  what combination of original GNR members is gonna show for the induction ceremony?

YES to Beastie Boys and Guns N' Roses; I suppose RHCP deserve to be in; I think Small Faces are meh-to-crap, but whatever, and I don't get the inclusion of Donovan & Nyro, but again, whatevs. We all have our thing.

    However.

Are you fucking kidding me, the ones they left off? No Cure, no Waits, no Joan? Not OK, HOF. Not. OK.

Couldn't predict Duff, Izzy, or Adler.

Slash is a gentleman and a statesman now, with a good sense of humor -- he'll show.

Which probably means Axl won't, him being a grudge-holding bitch about Slash in general. Though honestly, Axl = Total wild card. Might show, might not. If he does, might wreck the whole night with drunk/druggy acting-out, or with a four-hour speech about how persecuted and pissed off he is. MIGHT just show up on time, accept, sing in the jam, go home without hitting anyone over the head with a bottle. Does Vegas have a line on any of this? I'd put some money in ...

  4. If Prince and Axl Rose are invited to the same event, what's the spread on when each shows up relative to the requested time?

(Though to be fair, the Welcome 2 America concerts at MSG started relatively on-time, with NYC curfews apparently serving as a motivating factor.)

Tom Waits got in last year. His new CD, by the way, is great.

  6. I fully support any hall of fame that refuses to admit Donna Summer.
