1 ACROSS, FIVE LETTERS: "JENNA MARONEY'S FIRST NAME":  Welcome back, 30 Rock. I missed you.  (Favorite freeze-frame: on the movie theater marquee: "The Help 2: Still Helpin'").  And the Timeless Torches is a real thing.

And based on that link, they used the real members of the Torches on the show! That's awesome!!

Lots of great lines in this episode (The AV Club review lists most of them) and fun to have the show back. Wish it weren't at the expense of Community, but that's not 30 Rock's fault.

(By the way, the design of the crossword was almost as funny as the clue.)

I was very happy that P&R and 30 Rock were back, but the episodes themselves were kind of blah.  Some good gags in 30 Rock and a pretty funny political rally in P&R, but neither one really hit the bar for me overall.

  3. It was a weird night; definitely a down one for P&R, but I was so happy to have 30 Rock back.  Have been watching the double reruns every night on Comedy Central, and the writers' ability to take jokes in unexpected directions never fails.

And The Office didn't completely suck.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought P&R was sub par (which, admittedly, still makes it better than 955 of what's on TV). The AV Club loved it, and I thought it was just ok.

On the other hand, Adam Scott completely sold everything about the claymation video, and I howled. And it was nice to see Chris Traeger in nice mode - it's been a while since he was something other than an antagonist.

  5. I got home late and haven't watched the first 75% of NBC's comedies, but did watch Big Bang and Up All Night (more disposable, require less attention).  Big Bang was fine (especially for an episode that was as Howard-heavy as this one is, which is normally a bad omen, though Sheldon/Penny plots are almost always gold), but Up All Night has really found itself, though I'm a little concerned about the gender stereotypes--the three women are playing different kinds of crazy while the men are generally playing the normal ones.
