WINTER IS COMING: Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, successfully persuaded her parents to let her adopt the dog that played Sansa's Dire Wolf.  (And when so many shows are weighed down by child actor performances--e.g., Once Upon A Time--it's really impressive how both GoT and Mad Men have either gotten extraordinarily lucky or had extraordinarily good casting for the youth roles.)

    That's a Lady. And Lady. :)
What's the problem with Once Upon A Time's kids?

See also Susie Figgis, who did the casting for the Potter movies and did such a good job that over ten years they had to do only minimal recasting of the children and only in minor roles. (Not to mention her adult casting was pretty damn good as well.)

Do you watch the show? The quality of an episode is usually directly related to how much screen time Henry has. Every line reading is wooden and cringeworthy.

I keep hoping that he gets sent to a world where time flows at a different rate and comes back as a teenager or young adult.

I think they kept the kids for continuity, but not for talent or performance. Emma Watson was a good find, but Rupert Grint was terrible in that role and if they were starting from scratch, I think they would have done a better job than casting Daniel Radcliffe, who didn't really grow the way that Harry did. So in my view that cast was mediocre---could have been worse, but could have been better. I'm not blaming Figgis for that, since it's impossible to know how a kid is going to turn out. You can only cast for the first movie and hope that you don't have to Sarah Chalke it halfway through.

Yep, never understood the Rupert Grint dislike from some corners. He was perfectly fine.

Still, Henry is a member of the Ex-Bobby Club, and was pretty bad on Mad Men. Incumbent Bobby Mason Vale Cotton is pretty good though.

His acting style is like Neil from the Young Ones, except he's trying to be serious.

  8. Despite Rowling's love for the character, Ron is honestly pretty boring. Yeah, he's got a few great moments in the series (some of which, like "Weasley is our king!," got cut for the movies), but mostly he's just there to be reactive.

  9. All in all, I think that they did a great job casting the kids for Harry Potter. The only one that I'd really point to as truly weak was Ginny, and it was possible to cut her character down some,

I'd say Ginny and Ron -- Grint did so much mugging in the early films, and I never felt like he had any depth in the later ones (not that Ron has much, but a little more would've been good). And Bonnie Wright just couldn't live up to Ginny, unfortunately, as I would've liked to have seen more of her in the films, and done better.
