IT'S NOT A GREAT SIGN WHEN YOUR BEER IS CUSTOMARILY SERVED WITH A LIME TO HIDE THE FLAVOR: Deadspin lists eighteen overrated beers.

I can see a difference of opinion on Anchor Steam (and certainly Anchor Porter is better), but I cannot abide someone who says bad things about Old Rasputin.

Also, the complete dismissal of Yeungling.

Yeungling is nasty. I'm in total agreement with him there.

It's a very dependable cheap beer to me. Certainly better than a lot of things.

  5. Not being a beer person, I can't speak to this, but the denunciation of Shiner Bock would seem to run the risks of hordes of angry Texans.

My parents like "bad" beer - Mom's a Miller Lite gal and Father's been drinking PBR since the Kennedy administration, you whippersnapper hipsters. That being said, they like Yuengling, especially Father, so depends on what your rating system is, I guess.

I don't drink beer. I can't tell you how grateful I am to the gluten "intolerant" and the hipsters for popularizing hard cider. There's so much more variety than there was when I started drinking cider 15 years ago and you can get it so many more places! I love being able to drink cider at the ballpark. I always felt like such a girl drinking a Mike's Hard Lemonade at a Phillies game. Lame!

I was considering disagreeing with him about Oberon, but based on his definition of "overrated", I can't do so (nor can I disagree with said definition).
A lot of my friends go on and on about Oberon. Granted, they're from Kalamazoo, they've almost certainly been to Bell's on Oberon Release Day (I know I have), and that's a time and place where it is, in fact, that good. I will almost always go for Oberon if I see it on tap locally. But, much like Guinness, it's a lot better the closer you get to the source, and it's not the only beer in the world.

Now, I'm off to drink one of the six Rolling Rocks in my fridge.

Someone wrote it on Deadspin. So it must be true.
